From the Shellbrook Chronicle Nov 10, 1943: ’At a quiet wedding on November 4th, Ralph Thera and Bernadine Froeler were married in the Roman Catholic Church at Big River by Rev Fr W Defosses. Mr Ray O’Conner and Miss Ruth Froeler signed the register. A wedding dinner was served for the immediate family at the home of Mrs Servatius after the ceremony’.
Ralph moved to Foxdale from Anneheim in 1944. He and Bernadine had four children, Eleanor, Walter, Ruth and Maxine.
’For many years he hauled mail in the winter by team from Foxdale store to Shellbrook twice weekly. He was the community’s auctioneer for all events, namely pie and basket socials, which always followed a whist drive.
Due to poor health, Ralph and Bernadine moved to Shellbrook in 1952. They purchased the old hospital, renovated it and made a home for eight patients who were discharged temporarily from North Battleford. On December 21, 1954, Ralph passed away in Shellbrook hospital.’
