Carl and Oliver’s were parents were John Harold Ahlsten (1861-1936) and Marie Kristina Agren who were both born in Sweden. John came to the US in 1883 and Maria in 1885 for their wedding the same year. When John and Maria moved to Canada in 1913, they had a son and two daughters. They settled in the Shellbrook area. The family grew with four more sons (including Carl and Oliver) and another daughter. Marie died about 1924. In 1927, John married Minnie C Skoglund (1889-1971) from Minnesota, US.
