Father: Alexander McAteer, born Glasgow, Scotland January 26, 1883. Worked as a child labourer in the woollen mills. Came to Canada as a young man. Arrived in Prince Albert in 1903. Homesteaded NW quarter of 12, township 49, range 3, west of the third). Married Minnie Elizabeth Dixon October 1911. Worked part-time at the brickworks in Prince Albert, hauled freight and had a grist mill for grinding feed. Sold original homestead and bought NE quarter 14-50-3-W3rd in about 1916. Bought NW-13-50-W3rd in 1923 and moved to live there. Bought SW-26-50-3-W3rd in 1936.
They had 13 children, six sons and seven daughters, William, Agnes, John, Margaret, August, Jessie, Peggy, Ethel, Ed, Bob, Jim, Ellen and Doris. Alex died May 30th 1968. Minnie died August 11, 1973.
